Hello all,

First, sorry not to speak german. I am french and i just speak a bit english only. Well, here is my problem :

I downloaded a concert which was captured from french digital TV (using a Nexus card i think) in MPG (MPEG 2 for video / MPEG 1 Layer 2 for sound). The format is PAL. It plays fine on WinDVD and Windows media player. I'd like to make a DVD with it but i get a progressive desynchronisation at the rendering (using DVD architect / DVDlab for authoring). So i tried PVAstrumento 2.0.30 and 2.1 with several different settings to fix the video but i still have the problem. That's why i want to try Project X 0.81.5.I. So i installed the java rutime and ran the program. However, i have absolutely no clue about how to use it ! So is there any FAQ / manual in english somewhere ?

I don't know if it might help but here is the log of demux done by PVAStrumento :

Also, i let the defaults settings and i tried demux. I got a problem : the audio file is 4 MB only but it's supposed to be 170 MB i think. The video one is alright though. Any idea ? Danke.

So is there any FAQ / manual in english somewhere ?
guess not, not even in german yet.
but you'll find smth. in italiano, french, czech, hungarian, russian, polish.. :)

the X quickscan log is too short for that, attach the log from a complete demux as you had already done..

but do it with the updated files from here (http://forum.dvbtechnics.info/viewtopic.php?t=252) !

Lucius Snow

Okay ... so i got the updates and recompiled the program. I don't know anything about Java but i followed the instructions and it seems to have worked because the program executes itselfs.

So i did a demux with the default settings except "Don't message missing startcode" which was checked. I had to do it otherwise i got thousands of error messages and an out of memory problem.

So here is the log :

Like i told you, the audio output file is just 4 MB instead of around 170 MB. I don't know why.

What settings should i put to demux properly and keep the synch ?
Thank you very much for helping.

Finally i got rid of this problem that made a 4 MB file. I had to enable two options but the problem of sync is still there ! Any suggestions ? :( I'm getting crazy.

I've just uploaded the next update.
it gives an error (and drop) if the PTS of a following GOP goes back in time.
usually that causes an audio stop, so try it.

also, because you don't experience any video error, you can set the option 'ignore video errors after 1st gop'.
that will calculate the needed PTS from the first syncpoint and don't use any other anymore.
Usually, these are the same values as the original PTSs, if the file is errorfree..
but the must be an error.. :(

without X.ini you get the most common settings..
but sometimes they must vary..

btw:
pls attach a file, don't quote it!

Ok so i updated and recompiled. Also, i enabled the option you told me but the result is exactly the same : progressive desynchronisation :(

The *.ini extension seems to be forbidden ("verbotten" ?) so i zipped it. I really don't understand why it's always out of sync at the rendering (whatever i use, DVDlab or DVD architect). But then again, it does work with Windows media player, WinDVD when you play the MPG original file.

I'm lost :(

I see, but you've left the 'take only 1st audio pts' ON, so uncheck this AND 'ignore video errors..', too.
these 2 options are diff. things and the upd. takes care about the 4MB audio cut-off psb. caused by the videoPTS, I hope.

what about the audio, if you type in '0xc0' in the PIDlist of used collection and applies it. (what ignores any video data)
are there any errors in audio?

for all tests uncheck 'don't message missing startcodes'..

Lucius Snow

Thanks Matt.

Alright ... i did all this except :
- disabling 'take only 1st audio pts', otherwise i get the 4 MB cut problem (although i compiled with the last updates)
- disabling 'don't message missing startcodes', otherwise the processing is *extremely* slow, showing thousands of missing / found startcodes messages. Last time i checked the option, i got an "out of memory" error after 13% of processing (which took like 3 hours !). Does the final result change under this option ? Or is it just a matter of display / log ? Can i bypass it ?

So the result is still the same : progressive desynchro at the rendering with DVDlab. Also, i tried to multiplex the 2 files created by ProjectX with TEMPGenc and i got a MPG file which had the same desynchro. So i guess DVDlab has nothing to do with this problem.

Thanks for helping.

P.S : Do you watch footy ? Your pronostic for Germany - France tonight ? :) Although it's just friendly, i can't wait for it.

the results are the same, but if you encounters so many thousands of missing codes, there is a problem to talk about...

so, do an further update and use the included X.ini for the options.
you can check 'disable missing..', but it's better we have a (short) log where I can see when and why the codes are missing..
(for a short log you can press 'c' once to cancel)

I still have the 4 MB cut with the new updates :/ So i tried again with the 'take only 1st audio pts' option enabled but same result : progressive desync at the rendering.

I ran another test, with 'take only 1st audio pts' unchecked then. This time, i let the missing start code message display. I had to cancel the process though. The log is attached.

Hello,

Well, sorry to insist a bit :? ... I just recompiled ProjectX with the last update from November 16th and the 4 MB cut problem is still there. Does anybody has got it too ? Well, i think maybe my sync problem can be fixed if the processing doesn't stop like this and goes to the end. All my tests have failed since now but i enabled the 'take only 1st audio pts' option which must be unchecked according you. All i have to do is to finally make it work with that option disabled, but there's the 4 MB cut on the audio file so ... :|

dvb.matt

well, then you read carefully this thread/posts (http://forum.dvbtechnics.info/viewtopic.php?p=1204#1204).
you have to extract either a binary part of the file (~1MB) where the cut appears, or make a big log of this.
we only need ~2seconds of exactly that file area..

so, you must use the X preview to come close to that place (timecode) as 'rufus' had done..
(4MB may be at ~5950 audioframes = Timecode 143sec. (00:02:23 after start timecode )
test the extracted part whether it breaks the audo export, too..
then post it.
